The discerning capacity of FourM - FourM is an internationally operating company for executive search, specializing in the IT and telecommunications markets. A team of consultants and researchers works out of our office in Baarn (the Netherlands) to fill top qualified positions in the ICT-sector. Using our advanced knowledge of the (labour) market and making use of our own research department and international collaboration, FourM has been able to develop a large number of long-term relationships with its clients and potential candidates.

An Introduction

FourM was founded in 1991. A unique approach of executive search, focused on specialization and knowledge of the market, started to pay off quickly. FourM continues to place a still increasing number of staff with nationally and internationally operating companies.

In-house Research

Business intelligence is the basis of an executive search. FourM maintains and increases this basis by using its own in-house research department. Our researchers carefully monitor developments in the ICS and other, related sectors. They are committed round the clock to keeping up with and analysing trends, innovations, reorganizations and anything else that makes the ICT (labour) market so dynamic and turbulent.

An International Network

When conducting its international activities, FourM makes use of the MARLAR Search Network, an international network of approximately 30 partner companies. This ensures that FourM is represented at all international ICT-markets. FourM clients have access to a worldwide network of professionals, with their FourM consultant acting in an international account management capacity.

Executive Search in the ICT Market

Higher ranked positions in the ICT market are most often filled by executive search. This is not surprising. For the employer it is an effective and efficient way to contact the right candidates. For the candidate, a specialized company such as ours can serve as a neutral and knowledgeable party that speaks the same language and knows the market demands. FourM is especially equipped to not only find the right candidates but to also determine to what extent a certain position would be a meaningful step on their career path.

Research as a Professional Basis

Knowledge of the market forms the basis of an executive search. FourM has developed into an information provider, focusing on information about careers and people. The first step to accomplishing this is by gathering information. Researchers monitor the developments in the ICT sector round the clock. They develop and maintain a network of contacts and visit companies, trade fairs and seminars nationally and internationally. All the obtained information is stored in a database and forms the basis for the executive search activities. The final step is to use our personal connections to transform the data into practical information.

Research as an instrument

For every assignment, FourM uses its own researchers to provide up-to-date information on the market, competitors and the key people that are active in that market. Our researchers work to put together a list of candidates and assist in assessing the candidates' interest in a potential new position.

Thanks to the researchers' input, our consultants have all the inside knowledge of the sector and are up-to-date on the latest market developments.

A Transparent Approach

An executive search begins by analysing the organization and the position. The result is a comprehensive profile of the position. FourM matches this profile carefully to the employer. Only after the employer's approval does FourM begin its actual search. A few steps of this search process are explained in more detail below.

Implementing Executive Search

The Long List

Based on a first assessment, we compile a list of names of potential candidates for the position. These names are obtained through our own research and networking

From the long list a selection is made based on, among other things, the expected availability of the candidate and their specific work experience. In a telephone conversation we assess the interest of potential candidates.

Short List

The consultant conducts an introductory conversation with a selection of candidates from the long list. The goal is for both parties to get a sense if they want to continue with this process. The consultant shortlists several candidates for a second conversation. After this conversation, which provides plenty of opportunity to discuss the organization and the position, both FourM and the candidate can decide if the available position offers a suitable challenge to the candidate.

We check all references of short-listed candidates.

Meeting with the employer

FourM offers the employer a written introduction of several suitable candidates. The employer makes a selection and then negotiates directly with the candidate about the exact terms, conditions and benefits of the contract. FourM is not involved in that part of the process.
